Exploring International Cuisine in the River Market

Located just a few blocks from the market in the historic Columbus Park neighborhood, Garozzo's Ristorante is a KC institution. You must order their signature dish, Chicken Spiedini: marinated, skewered chicken rolled in Italian breadcrumbs and grilled. It is fantastic.

Located directly inside the City Market, Habashi House serves incredible Middle Eastern food. You can smell the fresh pita bread baking from the sidewalk. Their gyro sandwiches, falafel, and massive platters of hummus are cheap, fast, and highly authentic.

Also located in the River Market, Nguyen Pho & Grill is the perfect spot for a restorative meal. Their pho broth is rich, deeply aromatic, and incredibly comforting, especially if the unpredictable Midwest weather turns cold or rainy during the tournament.

Blue Nile Cafe is the oldest Ethiopian restaurant in Kansas City. They serve massive, communal platters of spicy wats (stews) over spongy injera bread. You eat with your hands, making it a fantastic, interactive dining experience for a group of traveling fans.

If you visit the River Market on a Saturday or Sunday morning, it will be incredibly crowded with locals buying fresh produce, spices, and flowers at the farmers market. It is a fantastic atmosphere, but parking can be very difficult. Consider taking the free KC Streetcar directly into the market.
