Exploring International Cuisine in Plano and Frisco

Food & DiningUpdated: June 2026• 25 min read

While Dallas and Fort Worth offer incredible dining, the massive northern suburbs of Plano and Frisco have quietly become culinary powerhouses, particularly for international cuisine. Driven by massive corporate relocations and highly diverse populations, these suburbs offer some of the best Asian, Indian, and Middle Eastern food in Texas.

The Asian Hub: Legacy Drive

Plano's Chinatown

The intersection of Legacy Drive and Coit Road in Plano features massive Asian strip malls anchored by supermarkets like Mitsuwa and 99 Ranch. You can find incredible authentic Sichuan cuisine, highly specialized ramen shops, and massive Dim Sum palaces right next to each other.

The Japanese Marketplace: Mitsuwa

Food Court Excellence

Located in Plano, Mitsuwa Marketplace is a massive Japanese grocery store with an incredible food court. You can get fantastic, highly authentic bowls of ramen (from Santouka), fresh sushi, and incredible matcha ice cream. It is cheap, fast, and high quality.

Indian Cuisine: Frisco

Massive Buffets and Biryani

Frisco boasts a massive Indian population, resulting in an incredible concentration of regional Indian restaurants. You can find highly authentic South Indian dosas, massive weekend lunch buffets, and incredible Hyderabadi biryani scattered throughout the suburban strip malls.

The High-End Suburban: Legacy West

Corporate Luxury

Legacy West in Plano is a massive, highly engineered shopping and dining district. It features a massive food hall (Legacy Hall) with dozens of curated food stalls ranging from elevated shawarma to artisanal duck fat fried chicken. It is highly polished and very busy.

The Logistics Note

The Tollways

Plano and Frisco are located 30 to 45 minutes north of downtown Dallas, and you must use the Dallas North Tollway (which requires an electronic toll tag) to get there efficiently. Factor the drive time and tolls into your dining plans.

World Cup 2026 Dallas Tips

The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is staggeringly massive. AT&T Stadium is located in Arlington, which sits directly between Dallas and Fort Worth. Arlington has zero public rail transportation. You will absolutely need to rent a car or rely heavily on expensive rideshares to get to the stadium. If you rely on Uber after a match, expect to wait over an hour in intense heat while surge pricing multiplies your fare.
