The Best Off-Site Parking Lots with Shuttles to MetLife
Official stadium parking passes for the World Cup will sell out instantly and fetch astronomical prices on the secondary market. If you are driving to the match without a stadium pass, you must utilize private, off-site parking lots located in the surrounding towns.
1. Redd's Restaurant and Bar (Carlstadt)
This is the most famous off-site parking operation in the area. Redd's is a massive sports bar located just north of the stadium. They sell a "Park and Ride" package: you park in their lot, eat and drink at the bar, and they provide continuous, private shuttle buses directly to the stadium gates. After the game, the shuttles pick you up and bring you right back to your car.
2. Secaucus Park and Ride
If you want to park securely and cheaply, drive to the massive parking garages at the Secaucus Junction train station. It costs a fraction of the stadium parking fee. From there, you simply buy a cheap NJ Transit ticket and take the 10-minute train directly into the stadium.
3. Local Industrial Warehouses
On matchdays, many private factories and warehouses in Carlstadt and East Rutherford sell space in their massive truck lots. You will see handwritten cardboard signs along Route 120 offering parking for $40-$50. These are generally safe, but you will have to walk 20-30 minutes along the highway shoulder to reach the stadium.
Off-Site Considerations
- Tailgating is Prohibited:
Most private warehouse lots and Secaucus garages strictly forbid tailgating, grills, or drinking alcohol in the lot. If you want to tailgate, you must be in the official stadium lots.
