Where to Find the Best Wings in New Jersey for Matchday

Updated: June 202625 min read

Nothing pairs better with a pint of beer and a football match than a massive plate of chicken wings. New Jersey takes its bar food very seriously, and the area surrounding MetLife Stadium features several legendary dive bars known specifically for their wing sauces.

1. Sharky's Wings & Raw Bar (Clifton, NJ)

Sharky's is undisputed local royalty when it comes to wings. Located just ten minutes from the stadium, this dive bar gets absolutely slammed on game days. They offer dozens of homemade sauces, but their spicy garlic and traditional buffalo are absolute must-orders. Expect it to be loud and packed.

2. The Plank Pizza Co. Beer Parlor (Saddle Brook, NJ)

While the name advertises pizza, their sourdough flatbreads and incredible baked wings are the real stars. Paired with one of the most exhaustive craft beer tap lists in the state, it is a slightly more upscale but incredibly fun place to eat wings before taking an Uber to the stadium.

3. Black Bear Bar & Grill (Hoboken, NJ)

If you are basing your stay in Hoboken to be near the train, Black Bear is massive sports bar with excellent, crispy wings. They have dozens of giant TVs, making it the perfect place to sit and watch the earlier World Cup matches while you eat, right before jumping on the train to Secaucus.

Wing Strategy

  • Order Extra Wet:

If you like your wings drowning in sauce, always specify 'extra wet' when ordering at Jersey dive bars.

  • Carry Wet Wipes:

If you are heading straight to the stadium after eating, bar napkins are never enough. Bring wet wipes to save your expensive national team jersey from buffalo sauce stains.
