Where to Park at MetLife Stadium: Lots, Prices, and Rules
MetLife Stadium is surrounded by one of the largest continuous surface parking lots of any sports venue in the world. While this makes tailgating incredible, it also means that driving to the match requires extreme patience and a deep understanding of the parking rules.
1. Pre-Paid Parking is Mandatory
You absolutely cannot show up to the toll booths with cash on matchday. For major events like the World Cup, parking passes must be purchased digitally weeks in advance. If you drive to the complex without a pre-paid QR code, you will be turned around.
2. Understanding the Color Zones
The stadium lots are divided into color-coded zones (Gold, Platinum, Green). Platinum and Gold lots are closest to the stadium gates but are often reserved for VIPs or cost significantly more. For the vast majority of fans, you will be parking in the outer Green lots, which can require a 15-20 minute walk to the gates.
3. American Dream Parking Overflow
If the official stadium lots sell out, the massive parking decks at the American Dream Mall are often opened for event overflow parking. These spots are covered (great for escaping the summer sun) and connect directly to the stadium via a pedestrian bridge.
Parking Strategy
- Arrive at the Lot Open Time:
Lots typically open 4-5 hours before kickoff. Arrive right when they open. The closer you park to the highway exits (not the stadium gates), the faster you will escape after the match.
- Tailgating Footprint:
You are strictly limited to the space directly behind your vehicle. You cannot set up grills or tents in empty parking spaces.
